How to get here

The Turf is a true destination pub – getting to us is all part of the fun.

Due to our unique location, we’re one of the very few pubs in the country which cannot be reached by car.

Instead, enjoy an adventure to us by foot, bike or boat.

Enjoy a scenic stroll to us, by parking and walking on a 20 minute or 30 minute path.

The nearest car park is 0.8 miles or a 20-minute walk from The Turf, where there is limited parking available. Exeter City Council operate a clamping policy in this carpark. Please ensure that you are parked in one of the 19 designated parking bays.

The second car park is by the railway line at the Swans Nest, a 30-minute walk from The Turf.
Both car parks are free of charge and are accessed from the A379 Dawlish Road.

Begin at Exeter Quay and head south towards Salmonpool and Double Locks following the NCN 2 signs. After passing the Double Locks pub you will be riding alongside the canal - look out for herons and kingfishers. At the junction in the route take the left fork to Countess Wear and Topsham which soon brings you to the signalled crossing of the busy Bridge Road.

Follow the signs to The Turf. This newly constructed cycle/walkway is part of the developing Exe Estuary Trail and passes Exminster Marshes - an area of wet grassland which is an important breeding ground for lapwings and redshanks. There are viewing platforms along the route to watch the birdlife.

Continue straight on the path until you reach The Turf pub. There are multiple spots to lock up your bike while you enjoy a refuel and refresh.
